Anyway, the reason I had to call to report I won't be there... I was on the schedule for today. I reminded my immediate manager twice earlier that the schedule needed to be changed, she said check back with her later. Only problem, I didn't see her the rest of the day both those times, and when I returned to work after my two days off, the following two days (Wednesday and yesterday), I didn't see her at all, so I assume she was off. Made sure I wrote down my "confirmation number" for my absense (it's an automated system), and I'll make sure they give me an excuse at the hospital before leaving, so hopefully they won't find a reason to fuss at me... after all, I DID enter the request into the system... not MY fault I have an addle-brained manager that doesn't check those things!
Oh, and also... all my immediate co-workers know I won't be there today. I let them know as early as last week. The co-manager (the one directly under the head manager) also knows, because I told him twice, when I was telling him I needed to get the manager above me to write me "off" for today.
All the managers in various positions at the typical Wal-Mart and lack of employees in some departments, reminds me of the old saying, "Too many Chiefs, not enough Injuns."
