Digitization Continues

Spent some more time this evening converting even more of the old Tape & Record Show Enterprises audio recordings to digital. Since cassettes can degrade over time, even not being played, I'm kind of in a "race against time" to get them to a more stable/modern medium. I would have started this project a few years ago, but the budget wasn't there. Digital storage devices are a LOT cheaper now than they were a few years ago, and I wanted to make sure I could backup the completed recordings to more than one drive. Episodes converted this evening...

"The Tape & Record Show: Episode 20. Broadcast Wednesday, July 18,1979 at 5:00pm central. Theme Music: Rockin' My Life Away(Jerry Lee Lewis). "Monty Python's Flying Circus: Man's Crisis of Identity in the Latter Half of the 20th Century Pt.2 and It's a Living (or: School Prizes) Pt.1"

The Tape & Record Show: Episode 21. Broadcast Thursday, July 19,1979 at 5:00pm central. Theme Music: Rockin' My Life Away(Jerry Lee Lewis). "Monty Python's Flying Circus: It's a Living (or: School Prizes) Pt.2"

The Tape & Record Show: Episode 22. Broadcast Friday, July 20,1979 at 5:00pm central. Theme Music: Rockin' My Life Away(Jerry Lee Lewis). "Gilligan's Island: All About Eva" - An unattractive and lovelorn woman named Eva Grubb comes to the island to escape civilization and offers the castaways her boat. But before they can leave, the women give her a makeover and turn her into a Ginger Grant lookalike."

"James Stricklin Song Mirage: Episode 23. Broadcast Monday, January 7,1985 at 9:30pm central. Theme Music: Can You Feel It(The Jacksons). "Jacob J. Welsh"(James Stricklin in character) guest hosts. Songs: Africa(Toto), Walk This Way(Aerosmith), Do You Really Wanna Hurt Me(Culture Club), I Can't Drive 55(Sammy Hagar), Flesh For Fantasy(Billy Idol).

James Stricklin Song Mirage: Episode 24. Broadcast Monday, January 14,1985 at 9:30pm central. Theme Music: Can You Feel It(The Jacksons). Hosts: James Stricklin and Calvert Mimms(Albert Sims). Songs: Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming(Jermaine Jackson), The Meld(Jerry Goldsmith, from the "Star Trek:The Motion Picture" soundtrack), Lucky Star(Madonna), Seasons No Reason to Change(The Gap Band), Who Can It Be Now(Men at Work)."

Episode 22 of "The Tape & Record Show" was the last episode to use "Rockin' My Life Away" by Jerry Lee Lewis as the theme tune. At around a week, that was the shortest time a theme song was used in the series.

Fun fact: When James Stricklin was in his "Raymond J. Johnson, Jr" spoof character "Jacob J. Welsh, Jr" mode, he had problems with some pronunciation. He made "Toto" sound like "Tōjō", the guy in charge of Japan in WW2. In episode 24, James was virtually "drooling" over Madonna. That was then. Today, where Madonna is concerned, he'd probably yell at the stage and say, "Grandma, put on some clothes!".
