How did I get "hammer" priveliges in a paid MSN chat room? Granted, I'm paying for MSN chat.... but Yikes!
If you remember this post from Friday concerning the bogus charge to my credit card, I found out today I'm apparently not alone. Got an IM from someone who read my journal entry, his check card was billed over $51.00 from the same place, and he never heard of them either! Something rotten going on. He directed me to this page in Google Groups which tends to imply, from what I can understand of all the technical jargon, that it may be spyware related, although one symptom listed I haven't had, a home page hijacking. I run Adaware,Spybot, and Norton Anti-Virus regularly, but mostly just find "tracking cookies" to delete. Apparently this is more widespread than I thought. Those out there with credit cards, keep a close eye on charges made to them!
