Unreleased TRSE Rarities
Went ahead and digitized a little over 90 minutes worth of the old recordings this evening after all, mentioned in an earlier post.
First was the unedited "master recordings" for the "James Stricklin Happy Hour". The spoofs James and I improvised in the one hour and seven minute recording were scattered amongst a few episodes of the edited version of the series. They sounded quite a bit different on the edited "broadcast" versions, what with having music and a few random sound effects added post-production. There was also a "Tudball/Wiggins" Carol Burnett spoof on the tape which was never used. Original recording date wasn't properly documented on the original cassette tapes, so the "guesstimate" written on the box was June or July 1982.
Next was another half hour "E.T. Food Palace" recording session with James, Jerry Sanders, and myself, which was never used in a Tape and Record Show Enterprises "broadcast", and after hearing it for the first time since the 1980's when we recorded it, I know why it was never edited into a "broadcast" version. It stank. Only "highlight" was James doing his "Raymond J. Johnson, Jr" impersonation singing with Frank Zappa's "Dancing Fool". Also, on the digital file, I listed the recording date as "circa November 1982" instead of the "June, July, or August 1982" date written on the cassette case. After listening, it couldn't be either of those latter months, HAD to be after that. References were made to remarks made by Randy Haney and others from the October 30, 1982 "Randy Haney Comedy Hour" sessions.
