This evening, I digitized the next four episodes of the Tape and Record Show Enterprises series "Radio Yesteryear", which featured episodes from old-time classic radio programs...
"Radio Yesteryear: Episode 13, Broadcast Monday, December 9, 1985 at 8:30pm central. Theme Music: Let's Misbehave (Irving Aaronson & His Commanders). "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" - Holmes and Watson investigate the theft of important Navy submarine plans resulting in the murder of one Bruce Partington. Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce star.
Radio Yesteryear: Episode 14, Broadcast Monday, December 16, 1985 at 8:30pm central. Theme Music: Let's Misbehave (Irving Aaronson & His Commanders). "Life With Luigi"- J. Carrol Naish stars as an Italian immigrant who comes to America to reek the benefits of prosperity in the early 1950's. First show of the series, originally broadcast September 12, 1948.
Radio Yesteryear: Episode 15, Broadcast Monday, December 23, 1985 at 8:30pm central. Theme Music: Let's Misbehave (Irving Aaronson & His Commanders). "Truth or Consequences" - Ralph Edwards is host for this Christmas edition of the classic radio program. In this program, a war veteran disabled in a hospital bed is transferred, through the magic of radio, back to his birthplace and is reunited with old friends and relatives.
Radio Yesteryear: Episode 16, Broadcast Monday, June 30, 1986 at 8:30pm central. Theme Music: Let's Misbehave (Irving Aaronson & His Commanders). "The Red Skelton Show" - Comedy in the great Skelton tradition as Deadeye looks of Bowlegged Bullroose. Junior, the mean little kid, brings all these expressions to life and laughter... you just keep laughing kiddo...I'm going to tell on you...I dood it. Also stars Rod O'Connor and Verna Felton."
If I were producing this series today, it would be very cheap to make, because these days, you can download tons of classic radio from various internet sites for free, since most of them are in the public domain. However, back in the 1980's, I purchased LP records and cassettes from companies like "Radio Yesteryear", "Radiola", and "National Recording Company" for my access to those programs.
Random Thought: As for the original sponsor of "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" episode, not sure I'd trust a "cold medicine" which can also be used as a "laxative". https://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/search/object/nmah_718828
Note: Some of the old radio shows "broadcast" on "Radio Yesteryear" also appeared on the flagship series "The Tape and Record Show" in previous seasons. Yes, I was "recycling" before it was "cool". :-P
