Tonight, I digitized two more "flagship" episodes of "The Tape and Record Show" from the original Tape and Record Show Enterprises archived "broadcast" audio cassettes, one from the short-lived 1991/92 revival period and one from the VERY short two-episode 1999 revival period... "The Tape & Record Show: Episode 485, Broadcast Friday, February 21, 1992 at 10:00pm central. Theme Music: Diddling(Bo Diddley). "Ernest Tubb Live At The Spanish Castle Ballroom: September 1965" - Ernest Tubb and the Texas Troubadours perform many of their greatest hits, including: Drivin' Nails In My Coffin, There's A Little Bit Of Everything In Texas, Slippin' Around, I'll Take A Back Seat For You, Thanks A Lot, You Don't Have To Be A Baby To Cry, Lonesome 7-7203, Do What You Do Do Well, Try Me One More Time, Walking The Floor Over You. The Tape & Record Show: Episode 486, Broadcast Monday, October 11, 1999 at 7:00pm central. Theme Music: Diddling(Bo Diddley). "SCTV: The Early Years" - Skits include: Nuclear Baggies, Farm Report, Welcome Back President Kotter, The Glass Menagerie, Allistar Cook's "Armenia", SCTV Mystery Movie, 20 Depressing Hits By Connie Franklin, SCTV News, "Ben Hur" by General George S. Patton, Those Funny Guys, Passport To Adventure, Klägg. Features: John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara, Harold Ramis, and Dave Thomas." Tape and Record Show Enterprises ceased recording again after the 1992 "revival", because I got involved with the now ex-wife. Didn't attempt another "comeback" until a couple of years after the divorce. The 1999 "revival" lasted a whopping two weeks, when I realized it didn't "feel right" and was no longer working for me, and I ended it once again, that time for good. So, guess you could say TRSE didn't make it to the year 2000. Luckily, however, MOST of the "archives" survived over the decades, with only a few episodes from various TRSE produced series "missing", and several cassettes needing some "TLC" to play at all for digital conversion. Unlike the Shout Factory "SCTV: Best of the Early Years" DVD set, episode 486 ACTUALLY featured "early" material from the original syndicated version of the TV series, including sketches with Harold Ramis, which were mostly absent from the Shout DVD release. Only disadvantage, all the "Tape and Record Show" episodes are audio only. The old tune "Jungle Fever" by The Chakachas was added after the closing theme music in this episode to fill out the hour, although it isn't listed on the original handwritten "broadcast" index card.
