This Was Elvis
Tonight, I continued the Tape and Record Show Enterprises archives audio cassette digitization project, by converting the next two episodes of the flagship "Tape and Record Show" from season eight...
"The Tape and Record Show: Episode 461. Broadcast Friday, August 1, 1986 at 10:00pm central. Theme Music: Portable Radio(Daryl Hall and John Oates). "MOVIE: This Is Elvis"(1982) - In this 1982 docudrama about Elvis Presley, the entire life of "The King" is traced. In part one, you are taken from his birth in Tupelo, his school years, early television appearances, his mothers untimely death, his induction into the Army, and his introduction to future wife Priscilla Beaulieu. Part One of Two.
The Tape and Record Show: Episode 462. Broadcast Friday, August 8, 1986 at 10:00pm central. Theme Music: Portable Radio(Daryl Hall and John Oates). "MOVIE: This Is Elvis"(1982) - The conclusion of this TRSE special movie presentation chronicles Elvis' marriage and divorce of Priscilla, the birth of Lisa Marie, his bouts with sickness and drugs, and ends with excerpts from his final concert. / "Rock Me Amadeus"(Falco)."
Not the first time Elvis Presley's life story was chronicled on "The Tape and Record Show". First was the TV movie "Elvis" starring Kurt Russell, which was "aired" in seven parts in season three (as a feature on "The Elvis Presley Show"), then the serialized radio documentary "The Elvis Presley Story", "aired" in various short installments throughout seasons four and five. You may be thinking, "What about that Randy Haney series??". Well, even though the name of his show was the "Life of Elvis", it consisted of disjointed Elvis Presley songs, and never actually covered Elvis' life story.
