Tonight, I continued the Tape and Record Show Enterprises archives audio cassette digitization project, by converting the next episode of the flagship "Tape and Record Show" from season eight, and the next three episodes of the spin-off series "Radio Yesteryear"... "The Spike Jones Show"- Spike Jones and His City Slickers appear in this classic CBS Radio program from 1949. Includes a musical roundtable discussion on opera, Frivolous Sal, It Happens Every Spring, Dance Of The Hours, and the mini-opera "This Is Your F.B. Ieata". Radio Yesteryear: Episode 12, Broadcast Monday, September 23, 1985 at 8:30pm central. Theme Music: Let's Misbehave (Irving Aaronson & His Commanders). "My Favorite Husband" - Liz and Mr. Atterbury's wife Iris want new Easter outfits, so they bet their husbands they can lose down to a size 12 by the holiday. Starring Lucille Ball, Richard Denning, Bea Benaderet, Gale Gordon, and Frank Nelson." The audio from episode 460 was from a one hour VHS videotape I purchased at Musicland back in the 80's. The "Radio Yesteryear" episodes were from LP records I ordered from a small independent record label, "Radiola Records", during the late 70's/early 80's, which released classic radio shows on vinyl that squeezed thirty minutes of audio per side. Luckily, old radio shows weren't "high fidelity", so the groove compression didn't matter much. Still have the LP records in the "archives", although the digitized versions are from the TRSE edited "broadcast" version audio cassettes. A series like "Radio Yesteryear" would be considerably cheaper for me to make today, since there are a ton of old radio programs free to download on archive.org . Back in the day, I was paying around $5.99 plus shipping for each LP record.
