Honeymooning With Groucho and Redd

Tonight, I continued the Tape and Record Show Enterprises archives audio cassette digitization project, by converting the next two episodes of the flagship "Tape and Record Show" from season eight...

"The Tape and Record Show: Episode 458. Broadcast Friday, July 11, 1986 at 10:00pm central. Theme Music: Portable Radio(Daryl Hall and John Oates). "The Honeymooners" -A promotion is online at the Gotham Bus Company and Ralph tries to get in good with the boss by pretending he is good at golf. Stars Jackie Gleason, Audrey Meadows, Art Carney, Joyce Randolph. / "Good Time Baby"(Ray Parker Jr) / "Captain Jack"(Billy Joel) / "You Bet Your Life" - Groucho Marx and George Fenneman emcee this 1950's television game show which features contestant teams answering trivia questions to win a cash prize. This program's secret word is "People".

The Tape and Record Show: Episode 459. Broadcast Friday, July 18, 1986 at 10:00pm central. Theme Music: Portable Radio(Daryl Hall and John Oates). "Redd Foxx In A Plain Brown Wrapper" - The risque comedian performs in a live production from Chicago, Illinois. Redd discusses smoking, dying, language during sexual intercourse, differences between negroes and blacks, large and small breasts, head, children, school, breaking wind, the digestive system, and marriage."

Another odd coincidence regarding tonight's digital transfer of episode 458. Today was Joyce Randolph's 98th birthday. Wasn't planned, just that the episode was next in the list to be digitized.

Episode 459 is a stand-up comedy special featuring Redd Foxx, originally recorded live in 1983. This is another episode of "The Tape and Record Show" which is pretty much proof it was a "pretend" radio show. The mature content would NEVER actually make it on public airwaves, unless a radio station wanted to be fined into oblivion by the FCC. Makes George Carlin seem "tame" by comparison.
