James, Michelle, and Monty Python Leave You In Suspense

Digitized three more "broadcasts" from the 1980's Tape and Record Show Enterprises archives this evening, consisting of the first "Song Mirage" episode from its third season, and two more flagship "Tape and Record Show" fifth season episodes...

The Tape & Record Show: Episode 401, Broadcast Friday, September 16, 1983 at 10:00pm central. Theme Music: Any Way You Want It(Journey). "Suspense: On A Country Road" - The story of a young couple stranded in their car during a thunderstorm while an escaped lunatic, armed with a meat cleaver, prowls the woods nearby. Stars Cary Grant and Cathy Lewis. / "The Elvis Presley Story, Part 40: Elvis Gets Married" / "Suspense: Three Skeleton Key" - The story about a frightning experience by men on duty in a lighthouse. Stars Vincent Price."

James decided to slightly "retool" his "Song Mirage" for season three, by adding his wife Michelle as co-host. That lasted a whopping two episodes before the show went back to its old format. This was the first TRSE production in some time in which I added "sound effects" in post production, namely audience applause.

James makes another appearance in the digitization project this evening, in episode 400 of "The Tape and Record Show", introducing the Monty Python soundtrack LP segment, which originally appeared on "The Tape and Record Show" in an earlier season, in two half hour segments. FUN FACT: Some of the interstitials used in the LP were also used to "pad out" the "pilot" episode of the short lived "James Stricklin Happy Hour" spin-off series "The E.T. Food Palace". The pilot was derived from a skit performed on the main show, so had to pad the original skit out to half an hour at the time for the stand-alone pilot, originally "broadcast" Saturday, January 1, 1983. All "Food Palace" episodes have already been digitally converted. So, I guess you could say, with James introducing the soundtrack on this episode, it was somewhat appropriate, given the indirect earlier tie-in. However, James introduces "The Elvis Presley Story" segment in his "Jacob J. Welsh" voice, which really has no "tie-in" with ANYTHING. Can't find any documentation about Elvis Presley and "Raymond J. Johnson, Jr."(Bill Saluga) ever meeting.

Episode 401 was yet another "recycled" episode, since both "Suspense" old radio shows appeared on "The Tape and Record Show" in different form in earlier seasons, differences this time are my announcements and slightly different editing for time.
