This evening, digitized the next three episodes from "season four" of the Tape and Record Show Enterprises flagship series "The Tape and Record Show" from the original cheap "broadcast" version audio cassettes... The Tape & Record Show: Episode 370, Broadcast Friday, December 17, 1982 at 10:00pm central. Theme Music: A Piece of Cake 2(Jerry Reed). "Movie: Easy Come, Easy Go" - Elvis Presley stars in this off-beat vehicle dealing with the armed forces, sunken treasure, and yoga. Also stars: Dodie Marshall, Pat Harrington, Skip Ward, and Frank McHugh. Part Two of Two. / "Rock Around the Clock"(Bill Haley and the Comets, announced by Jerry Sanders) / "That's When Your Heartaches Begin"(Randy Haney/Elvis Presley). The Tape & Record Show: Episode 371, Broadcast Friday, January 7, 1983 at 10:00pm central. Theme Music: A Piece of Cake 2(Jerry Reed). "Teddy Bear"(Randy Haney/Elvis Presley) / "Mark Russell Comedy Special" - The political comedian talks about nuclear attack, book burning, the Falkland Islands, the budget, Ed Koch, and airline regulations. / "The Elvis Presley Story, Part 19: Got A Lot of Living to Do" / "Hound Dog"(Elvis Presley, announced by Jerry Sanders) / "The Elvis Presley Story, Part 20: Jailhouse Rock" / "I Want Candy"(Bow Wow Wow)." First of all, there wasn't two releases of the Jerry Reed instrumental "A Piece of Cake". I labeled the theme music as "A Piece of Cake 2" because, since its first use in season one of "The Tape and Record Show", the names Randy Haney and Jerry Sanders were added as members of Tape and Record Show Enterprises. In the original version, I was the sole mention, so I added the "2" on the theme music master tape at the time to distinguish between them. The slight "warble" in the theme, heard in both the earlier rendition and the one included in the transfers listed here isn't a tape defect, but a defect of the 45rpm B-side used. The 45 had a slight warp even when I originally purchased it. Thought of podcaster Stu Shostak twice while transferring tonight's old pretend radio broadcasts, mainly because of guests/friends of his. Pat Harrington had a somewhat big role in "Easy Come, Easy Go", and near the beginning of the Mark Russell special, Ed Asner is briefly mentioned. As a sad footnote, the version of "Guitar Man" on episode 369 also includes MY voice singing, apart from Randy. It just wasn't written on the original "broadcast detail" index card, where the information came from. A lot of these details are surprising to me, because it's been nearly 40 years since I last listened to most of these cassettes. Also, in hindsight, it was a bit ironic no parts of "The Elvis Presley Story" were included in the two part presentation of "Easy Come, Easy Go".
