The "Tape and Record Show" episode was the third episode in the "Who Shot J.R.?" original five episode arc of "Dallas", and the only one out of the original five episodes that "The Tape and Record Show" "broadcast" in its entirety. The other four parts were each split into two half hours each. Also, for some reason, according to the original TRSE info card, I didn't add any extra content to pad the episode out to an even hour, so this digitization runs a tad over 48 minutes including the theme music. Episode 42 of "The James Stricklin Song Mirage", second episode of season two of the series, was a "sound effects added" episode, supposedly recorded "live" at the Louisville Avenue J.C. Penney store closing sale, before their move to Pecanland Mall. This was the result of my having a sound effects record with "department store ambiance" as a cut, which I looped for a half hour and mixed into the background with the old trusty Radio Shack audio mixer. This episode, I discovered the hard way that the 45 single I had of Cyndi Lauper's "Goonies Are Good Enough" had the side labels reversed. Still have that 45 in the "archives". We also discussed "edited" movies being shown at "Joy's Twin Cinema". You get a discount on the already lower sale prices if you use the "Song Mirage Cash Card". :-P Episode 43 was also a sound effect modified episode. James and I supposedly hitched a ride on the space shuttle and did a "live broadcast" from orbit.Almost six months to the day of that "Song Mirage" "broadcast", that particular shuttle met a sad fate on liftoff. I created the effects not from a sound effects record, but by replaying the raw recorded tape on a cheap GE branded portable cassette player, putting it in a desk drawer, with a microphone next to the speaker, and added extra "hiss" in post, to make it sound as "bad" as possible, to simulate a broadcast from space to an Earth station. For the digitization, the recording was run through sound cleaning software, which might be somewhat "counterproductive" from the original intent.
