Second part of a two post about my Tape and Record Show Enterprises archives audio conversion project. Today, I finished the digitization of the complete "TRS Music Show" series, which was the conversion of episodes 38-40. Since this was a "later" series than the second season "Tape and Record Show" episodes described in the previous post, these were WAY easier to convert, since everything was dubbed onto a single cassette already. The recording equipment had improved dramatically between 1980 and 1992... "The TRS Music Show: Episode 38. Broadcast Monday, February 17, 1992 at 9:30pm central. Theme Music: Axel F(Harold Faltermeyer). Hosts Albert Sims and Paul Morrison. Songs: Time won't let Me(The Outsiders), Arizona(Mark Lindsay), White Lightning(The Big Bopper), Listen To The Music(The Doobie Brothers), Spirit In The Sky(Norman Greenbaum). The TRS Music Show: Episode 39. Broadcast Monday, February 24, 1992 at 9:30pm central. Theme Music: Axel F(Harold Faltermeyer). Hosts Albert Sims, Paul Morrison, and James Stricklin. Songs: Junko Partner(Dr. John), Iko Iko(Zachary Richard), That's Enough of That Stuff(Marcia Ball), Jolie Blond(Buckwheat Zydeco). The TRS Music Show: Episode 40. Broadcast Monday, October 11, 1999 at 8:30pm central. Theme Music: Axel F(Harold Faltermeyer). Hosts Albert Sims and James Stricklin. Songs: Yaaka Hula Hickey Doola(Al Jolson), Heartbreak Hotel(Stan Freberg), Suits Are Picking Up The Bill(Squirrel Nut Zippers), Tubthumping(Chumbawamba), Surfin' Bird(The Trashmen)." In episode 38, Paul and I get in a discussion about the local Mirage Lounge, because of something an older co-worker said to me at the time about the place. We debunked her statements. We also mention certain types of "movies" Jerry Sanders said he wanted to get into producing at the time. Paul also said in the episode that Richard Harrison "wouldn't know a good tune if it bit him on the a**, damn boomerang throwing motherf*cker" (Paul's words, not mine). Episode 39 was an actual "live broadcast" after a "live" episode of the "James Stricklin Song Mirage". Haven't gotten to the digitization of the corresponding episode of the Song Mirage yet, might be a while since there were twice the amount of Song Mirage "episodes" than TRS Music Show episodes over the years. Paul Morrison was present because he had been meant to include the songs for Mardi Gras on his new "Mumbo Jumbo Gumbo" series, but wasn't available to record ahead of time. Getting Paul and James together in an episode was hilarious, listening today. Episode 40 I mention TRSE has been "away" almost eight years, and I was rusty in recording techniques.According to James, "Tubthumping" was his daughters Janice and Lindsey's favorite song at the time, lets one know how much time had passed since Janice's first "appearance" on James' Song Mirage crying in the background as an infant in the mid 80's with James' wife at the time, Michelle, attending to her as an infant during the recording. TRSE was around just a little over a week in 1999, and since I couldn't get cooperation by that time from more than James, I decided to drop the idea of a "revival" of the organization. That was the "nail in the coffin" for Tape and Record Show Enterprises, it wasn't worth continuing. I guess "technically" 20 years (1979-99) was a decent run. I still have a few hundred hours of the "flagship" series and other shows under the TRSE flag to digitize though.
