As you'll notice, episodes 129 and 130 of the "flagship" series from season two have "missing segments". The master tape with the original local daily weather forecasts was partially recorded over for some reason, thus the reason those segments couldn't be recovered for digitization. The episodes were "assembled" from what was written on my "broadcast" index cards at the time. Even without the weather segment, episode 129 ran 39 minutes, nine minutes longer than the half-hour written on the card. However, episode 130, listed as an hour, ran a total of 54 minutes, even with the opening/closing theme music, without the forecast. Even with the sound editor software, there wasn't much hope for the audio quality to be improved for "The Inspector" episodes (from an "off-air" recording of "Return of The Pink Panther" using a mono cassette recorder with a mic held to the TV speaker), since my "master tape" was a 50¢ "Murphy's Mart" brand cassette. Some quiet parts, the audio hiss/rumble is as loud as the dialogue.
In episode 39 of the "Hit Parade", I apparently didn't bother to edit out Jerry and James "discussions" which were going on after songs had finished playing. Jerry asks if "Are we back?", and they had been "back" for a few seconds by the time he asked the question. Episode 40 started oddly. Since Jerry's alter-ego was "Magnum J.E.S", James chimed in as "J.E.S. Junior", doing another silly voice, which we ALL did at some point or another at the time during these silly recordings (me as "Calvert Mimms" on the "Song Mirage" for example). Jerry and James' names had the same first, middle, and last name starting initials, but James is NOT Jerry's son!
