Three More Digitizations Corralled
Converted three more old "Paul's Country Corral" episodes from the Tape & Record Show Enterprises archives this evening. Apparently, from his opening comments, episode 14 was recorded shortly after Paul Morrison and I had gone to see Stevie Ray Vaughn in concert when he appeared in Monroe. A few months later, we went to Ruston and saw The Monkees when they were on their 20th Anniversary Reunion Tour.
Contents of the three episodes transferred this evening, as described in the original, handwritten 3x5 index card "broadcast" file....
"Paul's Country Corral: Episode 14. Broadcast Wednesday, May 14, 1986 at 8:00pm central. Theme Music: Soul to Soul(Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble). Songs: Working Without A Net(Waylon Jennings), Lost In the 50's Tonight(Ronnie Milsap), Members Only(Bobby Bland), Blue Moon of Kentucky(Patsy Cline), Middle Age Crazy(Jerry Lee Lewis), and The Great Filling Station Holdup(Jimmy Buffet).
Paul's Country Corral: Episode 15. Broadcast Wednesday, May 21, 1986 at 8:00pm central. Theme Music: Soul to Soul(Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble). Songs: Cheap Thrills(David Allen Coe), I Think I'll Stay(Merle Haggard), Sweet Home Alabama(Lynyrd Skynyrd Band), Forever In Blue Jeans(Neil Diamond), Daddy's Honky Tonk(Moe Bandy/Joe Stampley), and a few words to live by.
Paul's Country Corral: Episode 16. Broadcast Wednesday, May 28, 1986 at 8:00pm central. Theme Music: Soul to Soul(Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble). Songs: Mr. Bojangles(Jerry Jeff Walker), We Didn't See You(George Jones/Ray Charles), When Will I Be Loved(Linda Ronstadt), Country Honk(The Rolling Stones), 12 Bar Blues(John Anderson), and If You Don't Like Millie Jackson(Millie Jackson)."
Seems Paul made it through these three episodes without making any "controversial" or "politically incorrect" statements, although he admits in episode 15 that he enjoys "smut", and at the close of the episode, he quoted a Monty Python song "Never Be Rude to An Arab" from their "Contractual Obligation Album", so since he was quoting something halfway "mainstream", not sure you can fault him.
