Out of Order
This evening, I digitized the next three "James Stricklin Song Mirage" episodes. Contents of the episodes as written down on the old index cards from back in the day...
"James Stricklin Song Mirage: Episode 4. Broadcast Monday, July 16,1984 at 9:00pm central. Theme Music: Beat Box(The Art of Noise). Songs: Heart Attack(Olivia Newton-John), Talking In Your Sleep(The Romantics), Footloose(Kenny Loggins), Head Over Heels(The GoGo's), Fake Friends(Joan Jett and the Blackhearts), Owner Of A Lonely Heart(Yes), White Horse(Laid Back), Self Control(Laura Brannigan).

Songs: Those Magic Changes(Sha Na Na), Don't Pay the Ferryman(Chris DeBurgh), Infatuation(Rod Stewart), Superfreak(Rick James), Safety Dance(Men Without Hats), Twist of Fate(Olivia Newton-John), Union of the Snake(Duran Duran), Tragedy(The BeeGees)."
A few comments about the transfers. First, not sure what was up with the labeling of the "broadcast" version cassette I used for the digitization. The outer case was labeled correctly, it was a TDK label. The actual tape in the box was a cheaper "Laser" branded cassette. Episodes were in the order written on the TDK label. WHY the "broadcast" episodes were out of order, I can't for the life of me remember. The tape had episodes 5 and 6 first, THEN the 4th episode. The episodes were even listed 5, 6, and 4 on the tape.
Then there's the "pitch" issue. The episodes ran a bit long for their half hour slot at the time, so in the original editing of the "broadcast version", to trim them down, I put the old JVC cassette deck pitch control to use, and slightly sped up the closing theme music of the episodes. Unfortunately, it made James sound like he was standing too close to a leaking helium tank.
