Didn't do anything "special" for my birthday today. Another "typical" Saturday. Watched Leo Laporte's "Tech Guy" podcast this afternoon, then watched some DVDs, and then digitized three more old Tape & Record Show Enterprises "broadcasts" from the 1980's from the ancient audio cassettes. I'm at the point where the tapes are getting "newer", so I'll be alternating transfers, instead of trying to do an entire series at one time. Since I have the first 13 "Jerry Sanders' Hit Parade" shows done, I'll continue with it later. Tonight I started on "The James Stricklin Song Mirage", which was the fourth TRSE series that involved my friends from back in the day, the first being "Randy Haney's Life of Elvis", second "The James Stricklin Happy Hour", third "Jerry Sanders' Hit Parade". Contents of the three episodes converted this evening: "James Stricklin Song Mirage: Episode 1. Broadcast Monday, June 25,1984 at 9:00pm central. Theme Music: Hold On Tight (ELO). Songs include: Flirting With Disaster(Molly Hatchet), Rockin' Me(Steve Miller Band), Point Of No Return(Kansas), Champagne Jam(Atlanta Rhythm Section), Cat Scratch Fever(Ted Nugent), Canary In A Coal Mine(The Police), Long Time(Boston), Sweet Home Alabama(Lynyrd Skynyrd). James Stricklin Song Mirage: Episode 2. Broadcast Monday, July 2,1984 at 9:00pm central. Theme Music: Beat Box(The Art of Noise). Songs: Beat Box(The Art of Noise), Whip It(Devo), Crime Pays(Daryl Hall and John Oates), Hot In The City(Billy Idol), Give It To Me Baby(Rick James), Freeze Frame(J. Geils Band), 1999(Prince). James Stricklin Song Mirage: Episode 3. Broadcast Monday, July 9,1984 at 9:00pm central. Theme Music: Beat Box(The Art of Noise). Songs: Freak-A-Zoid(Midnight Star), Rockit(Herbie Hancock), Don't Stop Til You Get Enough(Michael Jackson), The Message(Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five), Undercover Of The Night(The Rolling Stones)." Fun Fact: The first episode of the "Song Mirage" was actually recorded in 1982, but sat around "unbroadcast" until 1984. The other "pilot" James recorded back in 1982("The Best of FM") had already "aired" and had been repeated a few times before that first episode of the "Song Mirage" made its first appearance. Unfortunately, the premiere episode just HAD to be tainted with that assclown Ted Nugent. Then again, no one knew back then how BIG an assclown he'd turn out to be.
