Listens: Jerry Sanders Hit Parade

Hit Parade '83

Finished digitizing episodes 12 and 13 of "Jerry Sanders' Hit Parade" this evening, which rounds out the transfer of every episode Jerry produced and "broadcast" by Tape & Record Show Enterprises in the year 1983, except episode 4, which, as described in an earlier post, is "lost to time" unfortunately. Contents of tonights project, as described on the original "broadcast" index card files:

"Jerry Sanders' Hit Parade: Episode 12. Broadcast Thursday, August 11, 1983 at 7:00pm central. Theme Music: Morning Star(Kool & The Gang) . Songs include: Stranger In My House(Ronnie Milsap), Electric Avenue(Eddy Grant), Urgent(Foreigner), She Blinded Me With Science(Thomas Dolby), Wanna Be Starting Something(Michael Jackson), Private Eyes(Daryl Hall and John Oates).

Jerry Sanders' Hit Parade: Episode 13. Broadcast Thursday, August 18, 1983 at 7:00pm central. Theme Music: Morning Star(Kool & The Gang) . Songs include: Whip It(Devo), Baby Be Mine(Michael Jackson), Poison Arrow(ABC), Jukebox Hero(Foreigner), You Mean More To Me(Lionel Richie), Try Again(Champagne), I'm Still Standing(Elton John)."

James Stricklin and I also announce a few of the songs in these episodes.

Due to Jerry having "prior commitments", there was a huge gap between episodes 13 and 14. As you read above, episode 13 "aired" August 18, 1983. The show was put on hiatus after that, and didn't return until January 7, 1985.

Listening to all the old tapes after all these years makes me feel like I'm back in the 1980's again. Happier times.
