Maybe Today Wasn't The Best Day To Go Grocery Shopping

Mom WOULD want to go to the grocery store this afternoon. The place was packed with people. I had to go back out to the parking lot and wait for a person to finish unloading their shopping cart, so mom and I would have one. ALL of the carts were in use. After we got everything we needed, it took nearly an hour to get checked out. The lines were backed up down the center aisle of the store nearly to the rear of the building. ALL registers were open. One employee was "directing traffic", pointing people to various cashiers when the line at the particular register was short enough.

Mom cooks dry beans regularly. She almost didn't get what she wanted, the shelf was almost BARE. They were also extremely low on flour, sugar, meat, and ramen noodles. Bottled water, toilet tissue, and paper towels were virtually NON-EXISTENT, but luckily we didn't need water, tissue, or paper towels anyway. There was a limit of three items on the water, tissue, paper towels, and over the counter meds.

This was our usual weekly trip to the store. I'm thinking the grocery was so busy due to the "national emergency" declared today, and the other fact that the state Governor announced ALL kindergarten through twelfth grade schools in the state will be closed until April 13th. If I had brought my camera, I would have taken a few photos of the "madness".
