Son is Officially "XBoxed"... [Dec. 24th, 2009|06:12 pm]

Went ahead and let Andrew unbox his Xbox 360 Elite just now. Probably won't see him for two days! With the laptop for his birthday earlier this month, his PS3 from a couple of years ago, and the Xbox, he's pretty much covered for most any game he'd be interested in. He still hasn't expressed any interest whatsoever in the Wii.

I just don't know... [Dec. 14th, 2009|12:43 pm]

[Current Mood | annoyed]

Got a call from Andrew's first period school teacher a while ago. He hasn't gotten into any trouble (thank goodness), but he's refusing to do any work in her class. Might explain his grades since starting at the new school. If he doesn't start straightening up by after the Xmas holidays, both my mom and I are going to remove the PS3 and laptop computer from him until the end of the school year... they'll be kept at her place.

Both my mom and I have done everything in our power to try to get him straightened out, to make sure he makes it through school, but at the rate he's going, looks like he may completely flunk out, not getting a diploma or GED of any kind. IF he does that, I'm letting him know, in no uncertain terms, that once he turns 18, he's not going to stay around here leeching off me indefinitely. He'll have to find somewhere else to live... maybe go back to his mom.

With this high blood pressure... I don't need the extra freggin' stress!

[Current Music |"The Jack Benny Show"]

Andrew told me the other day that his laptop makes his lap a bit "too hot", and wants a small table to set beside the bed to put it on, soo...maybe tomorrow, if it isn't raining cats and dogs like it is today, I'll run over to Target and see about getting him one of those folding TV trays to put it on. My Uncle Barrett uses one to set his on, so it should be fine. After he got home from school yesterday afternoon, I took him to "Fred's", "Dollar General", and "Family Dollar" (all nearby stores), but none of them had any TV trays.

Update on the "Snow what?" post from Dec.4th... we did get a bit of snow, but it was so light falling, it didn't show up much on the cam pointed out the window. The image below was from when it was falling the heaviest, and you still can't hardly see it...

Mom hasn't been feeling well again. Her stomach has been paining a bit, she's been running a bit of fever... but she said she is some better this morning, so she is putting off going to the doctor a little longer. Brought her mail over to her house earlier, she was taking a nap, so I let myself in and sat the mail on her kitchen table, then went outside and put her garbage on the "curb" (no real "curbs" out here, so the cans just go on this side of the ditch by the road), so she wouldn't have to get out on this cold, rainy day to do it.

Just downloaded another batch of "old radio shows" to listen to from RUSC. I've been a fan of old radio since my early teens, when I first stumbled across it, checking cassettes out of the local library, then later ordering several on LPs from a now defunct company called "Radio Yesteryear". A lot of those shows are more entertaining than anything on the television today.

Random Update [Dec. 3rd, 2009|01:19 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , ]
[Current Mood | lazy]

Well, my son is the proud owner of a new laptop computer. That laptop has a few more "features" than my desktop does! First thing I did, to ensure safety, was to install Microsoft Security Essentials. Then ran Windows Update. Finally, made a set of recovery discs, before letting him just jump into the thing.

He hasn't backed up the stuff on the old desktop yet... he said he was going to do that this evening. So, sometime tomorrow, I'll do the reformat of the hard drive. I'm going to just TRY using the full Vista disc first, to see if the key on the sticker on the computer case will stick, as suggested by [info]kuzanagi_. If it doesn't, then I'll just use the recovery discs I made when I originally got the computer.

Also yesterday, I picked up the complete series set of "It's Garry Shandling's Show". Used to watch it regularly back in the 80's on Showtime... but you don't see it repeated much on TV anymore for some reason.

In other news... wondering what has become of one of my other LJ friends, [info]indigomittens. She hasn't posted anything since early November, hasn't been on messenger, and even her other friends on Facebook are wondering why she has been so quiet. Hope she is okay.

I've been rather "lazy" today, need to wash some clothes and dishes, but may put those chores off till tomorrow. Heck, been so lazy, it's almost 1:30 in the afternoon, I haven't even gotten dressed yet!

[Current Music |"Handel on the News" on KFI640.com]

Today Andrew turned 16 years old. As a result, I feel like I'm 92 years old! He's been wanting a laptop computer for his birthday, so his grandmother is going to take him to "Best Buy" when he gets in from school. I'll be going along as "technical advisor", to make sure he doesn't have my mom overspend. I've already asked him what he was mainly going to be using it for, and he said just watching online videos on YouTube, chatting, and browsing. For those rather lightweight uses, one $600 or less should be fine. Since the new machine will most likely be running Windows 7, it shouldn't need over 2 GB of RAM, because all reports say 7 is a lot "lighter weight" than Vista, which is the operating system on the PC I am typing this entry on.

He's not interested in computer gaming, since he has a PS3, and, as long as he stays out of trouble in school between now and Xmas, his grandmother has told him she'll get him the Xbox 360 he has also been wanting. Those two consoles should handle any game he would be interested in... he's shown no interest in any Wii games.

In other, completely unrelated news, the mom from "Family Ties", Meredith Baxter, has announced that she's a lesbian. Who woulda thunk??

Already this morning, I've washed dishes, went and applied for work three different places, and called to make an appointment for Eastwood for his yearly shots/examination(next Monday 10:30am). Groceries in the house are running low... debating on whether I want to go shopping this afternoon, or wait till tomorrow. The boy stayed up late last night with his game, since school is out for the week... it's after 11am, he's still asleep... probably completely unaware how busy I've been!

[Current Music |"Handel on the Law"]

Even though I'm not working, WHY did I still wake up at 6:30am on a Saturday?!?

Went to Lowe's yesterday, purchased a new mailbox and a new post (the old post was getting kinda rusty anyway). Had planned on mounting it today, but it has been sprinkling rain since I woke up.

If the rain doesn't stop, guess most of the morning/afternoon, I'll just be sitting here screwing around on the internets. Listening to "Handel on the Law" at the moment, after that, at 1pm central time, I'll probably watch Leo Laporte broadcast his "Tech Guy" radio show. If the rain continues, I'll try again on the mailbox tomorrow... no rain predicted then.

Already know what the boy has planned for the day, playing Modern Warfare 2 online with friends. He will be out of school all this week for the Thanksgiving holidays.

If anyone gets bored, wants to say "Hi", just a reminder I'm on most of the messenger programs(listed on the user info page). I'm a bit of a slow typer, and may not have anything interesting to say, but always nice to add a few more folks.

My mom, and my Uncle Barrett and Aunt Sybil, are leaving today for Jackson, Mississippi to visit with my Uncle Bill. Uncles Bill and Barrett will be hunting most of the time, while my mom and Aunt Sybil plan on fishing a lot... two things I never got into. They are scheduled to return to town on Wednesday.

So, I'll be on my own seeing after Andrew till then. I'll also have to go next door a couple times a day to check on "Booger", mom's cat. Andrew's councelor from "Cognitive Development" is expected to come visit with him sometime later today also, just for a regular meeting.

He can't fool me [Oct. 28th, 2009|11:48 pm]
[Tags|, , , ]
[Current Mood | bitchy]

My son keeps trying to fool my mother or me to spend money we can't afford, on frivolous things. His game this evening was his PS3 game system... the second one he has had in a three year time span. I bought an extended warranty on the newest one (he sold the older one, three months out of warranty, to a local game shop for $60, because the optical drive went out). He is trying to say it freezes up a lot because hard drive space is getting low. Below... the FACTS...

1. He talked my mom into buying him an external USB hard drive for the thing to store downloaded games.
2. He keeps trying to tell me the 22GB/74GB reading on the info screen means he only has 22GB left, which is causing the freeze-ups
3. I know, from years of PC use, it means he has 52GB left on the PS3, which would not cause a freeze.
4. He griped if I took it to Best Buy, which under the warranty, it'd be gone a couple of weeks to get sent back to Sony, he'd be without it.
5. After I argued that fact with him, he said he downloaded a 315MB demo of a game, and the first number went from 22GB to 18GB... IMPOSSIBLE!
6. He argued he wanted to replace the hard drive IN the PS3 with a larger capacity one, I told him it would void the expensive extended warranty I bought.
7. Told him, if the warranty was voided, he wouldn't get another expensive game system... he went to his room.

I'm not into gaming myself, but geesh... am I wrong? Gaming seems to be pre-occupying him too much already! Have to remind him to shower every night! Otherwise, he'll stay on that damn gaming system till time for bed! I know I'm a bit of an internet addict, but I don't let it affect my job or bathing habits!

He keeps this complaining up a week longer, I'll unhook the router, just keep this computer online!

I just know the "powers that be" at my job are going to complain about my not being there today, but this afternoon will mark the 72-hour point from that "Summons in Lieu of Arrest" that Andrew was so late in handing over to me the other night, and I really have no choice but to be here in case they come to pick him up. Mom is still in the hospital, so that just leaves me to take care of everything at the moment. No one else I can rely on.

He's done it to me again... [Sep. 25th, 2009|10:01 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , ]
[Current Mood | frustrated]

Instead of playing games this evening, Andrew came into the living room to watch some of the new "The IT Crowd" disc I bought. In the episode entitled "Are We Not Men?", the word "court" was mentioned, which prompted a thought to the boy. He had already said yesterday he might have to appear in court over the assault charge that prompted his 2-day suspension, and he gave me envelopes containing disciplinary sheets from the school... but there was one sheet... one major sheet...he hadn't shown me yet, with this header...

...which states, "I hearby acknowledge the receipt of this Summons and I understand that it is being issued in lieu of my being physically arrested. I also understand that a Warrant of Arrest may be later issued in place of this Summons. By accepting this Summons, I am not making any admission of guilt, but I do promise to appear at the place and time designated herein."

Okay, no date for a court appearance was mentioned, BUT it says the parent needs to contact a Juvenile District Attorney within 72 hours of the notice. Well, the write-up happened yesterday afternoon(Thursday)... I got the notice tonight(Friday) around 8:30pm. Tried calling the number, where I got a recorded message stating the offices were only open 8am-5pm Monday-Friday, and to call back then.

Do you suppose the notice takes in mind weekends, or do you think Andrew might be picked up after noon day after tomorrow? If so, nothing I can do, my hands are tied. Warned him time and time again to behave in school no matter WHAT occures... I never confronted anyone that picked on me in school, and I got picked on A LOT!!

Mom and several friends say it might be the best thing IF he gets picked up... might be the ONLY way he will understand the consequences of his actions. Sometimes, learning "the hard way" is the only way to learn... like to never marry someone unless you've known them longer than a year...

I just don't know... [Sep. 24th, 2009|05:18 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[Current Mood | cranky]

After a year at school without any major hiccups, Andrew has gotten a 2-day suspension at the new school. Discovered this after coming home from work this afternoon. Since the school he is in is an "alternative school", it has mostly students that have gotten in trouble for things in the past, so they don't take things lightly... like threats... even if it is just a spoken threat.

Andrew says the kids there in the math class keep picking on him. Both my mom and I have coached him over and over, until we are blue in the face, to go tell someone in authority if he is harassed... do not take things in your own hands. Well, yesterday, he told another kid, "If you don't stop, I'm going to kill you!". The Principal was willing to let that pass however, after Andrew spoke with the school councelor. Today, however, he apparently threw a hit at another student, which, being in an alternative school, now means Andrew has an assault charge, and will have to appear in court... don't have a date yet.

Needless to say...I...who is still trying to finish fighting off this flu bug, and trying to work also...am NOT a "happy camper" right now after coming home to this news! I'll be willing to bet my onset of high blood pressure last year probably was largely contibuted to by the stress this kid is putting me through. He is going to wind up under lock and key at "LTI" (Louisiana Training Institute For Boys") if he doesn't try to control himself. His grandmother and I have told him this repeatedly... that if he goes there, he'll only see us on visiting days (maybe not even THEN if I'm scheduled to work), he won't have his TV or PS3, he won't be able to talk to his friends online, etc. But our talks just seem to go in one ear and out the other.

If only that retarded judge had given ME primary custody during the divorce, instead of handing him off to that trampy bitch, I don't think Andrew would be having ANY of the problems he is currently having. I blame the ex-bitch for everything that is wrong with the boy.

Short Updates [Sep. 23rd, 2009|09:06 am]
[Tags|, , , , ]
[Current Mood | blah]

My flu is getting a little better, going to try going back to work tomorrow, can't afford to miss much work. Plus, my excuse from the doctor only goes through today. I'm sure upper management will be fussing about my not being there (as they usually do if I get sick), but what do they want me to do... expose EVEYONE in the building to the flu?!?

Mom might be home from the hospital later today. I'm sure her cat "Booger" will be happy to see her. He always misses her when she's gone for any length of time.

Andrew nearly forgot to put his belt on this morning before going to school. The "alternative" school he is going to this year has a very strict dress code. If he had of shown up without his belt, they probably would have called here asking me to either pick him up, or bring his belt.

Another visit to a hospital [Sep. 22nd, 2009|12:16 am]
[Tags|, , , ]
[Current Mood | tired]

I tell you... when it rains around here, it literally pours! Found out this morning I have the flu... my son is doctoring a sinus infection...mom was diagnosed with pneumonia last week... and now she is having to stay a couple of nights in the hospital with diverticulitis. She went to her doctor a little after 1pm this afternoon with pains in the lower part of her stomach, and the doctor sent her on to the hospital.

Since she lives next door, I started getting concerned when it was after 7pm, and hadn't heard anything from her, and her car wasn't under the carport. So, first thing I did was call Glenwood Hospital, because her doctor closes his office at 4pm, and if she simply needed a prescription, it wouldn't be taking THAT long to get filled... so the nearest hospital would be the logical choice. So, I find out she is in the emergency room, and about to be admitted.

Even though I'm "flu-ish", I hop in the ol' Ranger and drive to the hospital. She appreciated it that I came there, but said I really shouldn't have. She was concerned however that her car was in the parking lot, and being a new car, she didn't want to leave it there for a couple of days. So, she called my aunt and uncle, who were there in less than half an hour, and my uncle drove moms car back to the house.

After I arrived home, I went next door to check on "Booger" (moms cat), scooped his pan, replentished his food and water, then came home to tell Andrew his grandmother wouldn't be home for a couple of days, and reminded him to take the antibiotic for his sinus infection before he went to bed.

Can't wait till I get off work tomorrow... will finally have an entire week of rest and relaxation (hopefully), since my first actual "vacation" with my employer will start then! Been there about 2½ years, without any significant time off to "unwind". Will mainly just spend the time doing a whole lot of "nothing", or at least as little as possible! Not sure what hours I'll be working tomorrow, but I hope it's the early shift... not 10am-6pm like today.

Also tomorrow... ugh...hate to say it... turning another year older. Why can't we just stop at an age we like, and stay there?

Andrew rode his 4-wheeler yesterday after school for the first time in months. He said it would shut off every time he stopped. He asked me what would cause that, I told him I don't have a clue, since I know nothing about any kind of engine. Just suggested he call my mom's old boyfriend Larry, who bought the thing for him. He is actually a mechanic, after all.

Busy... Busy... [Aug. 14th, 2009|03:13 pm]

[Current Mood | tired]

It was extremely busy at Wally World today. Now I know it's Friday... I know it's "back to school" time... but geesh! You'd think, since they are having the entire parking lot re-paved (albeit a section at a time), it would be a tad slower. But nooooo... busier than a normal Friday! Even the assistant manager at the morning meeting was surprised by how busy it was.

After the morning meeting, the lady from Personnel asked if anyone wanted to chip in for a pool on the Powerball lottery, which is up to $213 million. I told her I was short on cash till payday, and I'd pass this time. Actually, I had some cash... and being the greedy bastard that I am, stopped by on the way home to put some gas in the truck, AND buy 10 "quick picks" for tomorrow nights drawing! I'm a bit like Daffy Duck, when he and Bugs Bunny stumbled upon the cave full of treasure... "It's MINE...MINE...MINE!!!". That attitude might come back and bite me in the ass later... but I'm "risky" like that!

My son has gotten set up for the new school year. Mom took him for orientation today while I was at work. After that, they went by Wal-Mart (I had already left by that time), and she bought him a Blu-ray he wanted, "The Fast and The Furious"... which I could care less about seeing myself. Still haven't watched the actual "movie" on one of my last purchased Blu-rays yet, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". As habit with me, I usually watch bonus features on any disc first. The other night, I watched ALL the bonus features on that disc, then was too sleepy to watch the movie. Will watch it Monday when I am off work again. The bonus features were a bit over 3 hours total... for an 84 minute movie!

Now... time for a PC reboot... Windows just downloaded updates... needs a reboot to take affect...

Tried to explain that that episode was 1949 live television, but he wasn't impressed, and went back to his PS3. Guess if he doesn't care for black and white in general (yet he likes "Young Frankenstein"), then an ancient black and white kinescope is out of the question!

Yes... I recently aquired a Sony 46" LCD HDTV 1080p 120Hz TV and new Yamaha 5.1 Surround system, yet I'm still watching stuff like this... call me weird... my son has. He says I should just buy an old B&W TV!

And Now For A Few Completely Random Things... [Jul. 5th, 2009|08:50 am]

[Current Mood | awake]

Yesterday after work, I picked up a Norelco electric razor for my son. He's at that "magic" age that the "peachfuzz" on his face is getting highly noticable, and I wanted to make sure he got rid of it before the new school year starts, when he begins high school. I figured it would be easier in the beginning stages of shaving for him to use an electric, because that is what I used the first few years I shaved, not switching to a manual razor till about my mid-20's. I remember when I was about a year younger than him, my "peachfuzz" had started showing up, and I was heavily ribbed at school about it until I shaved it off. Course, mine showed up more than his, because of the dark hair I had then. As a bonus, got 10% off the razor, thanks to my employee discount. :-)

Wilbur's funeral is set for tomorrow at 10am, but I'm not going. I liked the guy a lot, but I HATE funerals and funeral homes in general. Haven't even attended most relatives funerals just because of that fact. I'm planning to donate what might be left of my body to "science" when I go... I consider "funerals" a waste of money and land space.

Off work Sunday and Monday this week. Apart from doing some laundry, taking Andrew to his psychiatric appointment tomorrow afternoon (the place is about to stop seeing him since his behavior has improved quite a bit)... I don't plan on doing much that requires "energy" these two days. After I send this post, going to shut down the PC, unplug it, take the side off it, and blow out any dust that may have accumulated in it since I bought it back in March of 2008...

Too many "mothers" out the day before "Mother's Day" [May. 9th, 2009|05:42 pm]

[Current Mood | tired]
[Current Music |"The Gillmore Gang" on TWiT.TV]

WTF is it with rude asshats, or mothers, as I also call them, being out shopping on the day before "Mother's Day"?!?

Asshat 1: A middle aged woman started fussing at me out of the blue when I was restocking the "Blue Bonnet Margarine", saying,in a snitty attitude, "You KNOW you are supposed to move the older product up before putting in the new product!!!" I had already looked at the dates, ALL the Blue Bonnet had the SAME date... we got a shitload of the stuff in a few days ago... it was all from the same batch... bitch!!

Asshat 2: A guy appearing to be in his mid-late 30's walked up to me when I was stocking the cheese wall, and asked, "Could you tell me where the "Albert's Hot Sauce" is?" (YES, there IS such a product, nothing to do with me though). I told him I had no clue, I had never stocked it. He said, "It's normally in the dairy section." I told him I've never seen it in my section of the store. He ranted on, like I should know where everything in the freggin' store is, since I wear a "Wal-Mart shirt". He apparently found it down near the deli, waved it in front of me a bit later, and after he said where he found it, told me AGAIN I should have known where it was! Didn't tell him this, but this is what I felt like telling him... "I'm only really familiar with the area of the store I work in, or maybe the electronics department also. I RARELY see the rest of the store during the day. When I buy a bill of groceries, I mostly shop at "Brookshires", so I don't have to wait forty-forever to get checked out! Now put that in your redneck cap and smoke it...ASSHAT!!"

Yes, I DO mainly grocery shop at Brookshires... better service, quicker check-out time. Just because I work at Wal-Mart doesn't mean I do all my shopping there! Needed some more hairspray today, since it was just one item, stopped by "Fred's" (a small discount store), which is on the way home, got in and out within 10 minutes.

IN OTHER NEWS: Discovered, after getting home from work, Andrew talked my mom into getting him a 40" Sony HDTV LCD for his bedroom today, early (she was going to get him one after the school year was over), since it's confirmed he has passed for the year, and his class only has 4 more days left in the year. He's thrilled about it, currently got his PS3 hooked to it...

Work should be "interesting" today, glad I'm off! Even with the weekend power outage, and the immense amount of "catching up" that had to be done afterwards, Wal-Mart doesn't want ANYONE to get any overtime. Thus, my department manager, who was called in on her two days off, now has to take today and tomorrow off instead, leaving the dairy department without anyone at all there until 1pm today, when Scott comes in. I'm predicting the milk and egg situation is getting pretty "dire" at the moment as a result!

Andrew got his school pictures the other day. Talk about a "smug mug"!...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]jadededges AND [info]therealamy !!!

In other news, the AT&T tech guy that came out to fix the internets, said someone would be out in a few days to bury the cable he left on the ground. Well, when no one was home, they came out and "buried" it all right... NOT!!! In sections, the cable is clearly visible still! I called, they are supposed to come back out sometime in the next couple of days. An exposed wire can easily get chopped up by the lawn mower...

Noticed a friend is showing up under a "Mobile Contacts" section of "AIM"... wonder if they'll ever have an "Immobile Contacts" section for folks like me?

Not a happy camper... [Mar. 28th, 2009|09:07 am]

[Current Mood | groggy]

When I got home from work last night, Andrew told me his PS3 stopped working. Well, it somewhat works. The hard drive and internet access works, but it won't play ANY discs... his games, DVDs, Blu-Rays, etc. Did a little online research this morning, seems to be a recurring problem with some of the earlier generation machines, usually happening a few months after the warranty expires (Andrew's PS3 is about three months out of warranty).

From what I've been able to gather, the newer generation machines have resolved the problem, because Sony went to a different drive manufacturer. The machine can be repaired out of warranty, but at a cost of $150, and sending the unit back to Sony, where it will be gone about three weeks.

Debating on whether to just get him a new machine (he wouldn't shut up about it last night... I was tired, didn't want to hear it) and purchase a good extended warranty on it, or sending the old one in (in my experience, once repairs start having to be done on an electronic device, usually more problems aren't far behind).

Leaving to go to work in about half an hour... working 10am-7pm today...

Nothing major happening, just some randomness to waste your time... [Mar. 3rd, 2009|09:51 am]

Off today, but back to work at 5am central in the morn'. My days off are split this week. Will be off again Friday. Seems when your days off are split, it feels like you don't really have days off! The most I'll probably do today "housework wise" is take the garbage out to the side of the road (pickup is tomorrow), and wash some work clothes.

The distributor we get our eggs from at work recently switched from cardboard to styrofoam egg cartons. You'd think that would result in less eggs coming in broken. BUT, we're running across more broken ones instead! Go figure.

As of this writing, Andrew hasn't gotten into any more trouble in school. I told him a few weeks ago, if he gets through the remainder of the school year without any incident, I'd buy him a Xbox 360. Hopefully he'll stay out of trouble.

Still waiting for my tax refund. Should be here by March 17th, according to the IRS website. Got my eyes on a Sony 46" HDTV LCD TV for the living room, and a new surround system. The old TV and surround system still work, but are getting old, the TV will be 11 years old in May, the surround will be 9 years old in August. Figured it best to replace them BEFORE they completely "die", even though both aren't showing any signs of going out anytime soon. In my experience, electronic "failure" is usually sudden!

Downloaded a trial version of a WYSIWYG website builder. Gonna see if it'll be a good substitute for Yahoo Sitebuilder, which throws in a bunch of Yahoo specific code you have to edit out to get it to work on any other host. Don't really know enough to just use something like Notepad.

The Day Off So Far... [Feb. 16th, 2009|12:14 pm]

[Current Mood | curious]

Currently have a second load of laundry in the dryer.

Went online, did my Federal taxes. If all is correct, I'll be getting back enough to get that widescreen flat panel TV for the living room, to replace the 11 year old 27" Sony Trinitron CRT, which is still working fine, but severely "outdated" by todays standards.

Andrew has his annual eye exam appointment this morning. Mom offered to take him to that, to give me a chance to do some washing and my tax forms. Not sure what time they will return. The boy is out of school today and tomorrow. Today is "Presidents' Day", and tomorrow the teachers are having an "In-service" meeting.

Had a really bizarre dream last night. Don't remember the whole thing, just a part with Katie Couric (I don't even WATCH her on the news!) running to the sidelines of a football field (I'm not a sports fan either) with a short skirt on, her panties slipping down to her knees, then she falls over, landing on her back, legs up in the air, holding her stomach, laughing hysterically... her hoohah in plain view. I'm still thinking to myself, "WTF?!?" Any dream analysts out there to explain this? Could it be my blood pressure meds? Been having a LOT of bizarre dreams since I started taking them...

Leaving the PC for a bit to once again TRY to get caught up on viewing that stack of DVDs in the living room... I'll be somewhere HERE if you're a-lookin' for me!

Sweet and Sour [Jan. 15th, 2009|09:50 am]

[Current Mood | blah]

Got my 6 month evaluation at the job yesterday. Making a "whopping" 60¢ more per hour. However, "home office" has stated, that as of week after next, the computer generated work schedules cannot be changed, they have to stay "as is". My schedule, and Scott's (a co-worker in my department) schedule, have both of us off three days... Monday, Thursday, and Friday. As a result, there will be times that NO ONE will be in the dairy section to stock anything, including milk and eggs, which usually "fly" off the shelves! Yes, this will end well.../sarcasm. The days I am working are the 5am-2pm shift, which has been Wilbur's schedule for most of the 14 years he has been there. He now has mostly 7am-4pm and 1pm-10pm shifts, which, understandably, he isn't happy with. Even though the store manager isn't responsible for these changes, Mary Jo, our department manager (and another long-time employee), said something about she was going to "rip him a new asshole" sometime today. She's one of those women you don't want to get angry, you wouldn't like her when she's angry...

Andrew is home from school today. Got a one-day suspension for smarting off at the gym coach. The new meds aren't doing anything. I think he needs anger counceling, not medicine.

Keep telling him to brush! [Jan. 12th, 2009|12:27 pm]

[Current Mood | disappointed]

The bad thing about my job, is that some nights of the week, I'm not home before Andrew goes to bed, to make sure he brushes his teeth. I know he skips it regularly, as his toothpaste tubes last longer than they should. Well, it is catching up with him apparently. At his dentist appointment this morning, he was diagnosed with a mild case of gingivitis. He has another appointment set for Monday the 26th. I'm fairly certain he didn't brush regularly all those years he was living with his mother also, since, when he was a baby, his diapers didn't even get changed until I got home from work!
