Well, my son is the proud owner of a new laptop computer. That laptop has a few more "features" than my desktop does! First thing I did, to ensure safety, was to install Microsoft Security Essentials. Then ran Windows Update. Finally, made a set of recovery discs, before letting him just jump into the thing.
He hasn't backed up the stuff on the old desktop yet... he said he was going to do that this evening. So, sometime tomorrow, I'll do the reformat of the hard drive. I'm going to just TRY using the full Vista disc first, to see if the key on the sticker on the computer case will stick, as suggested by ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) kuzanagi_. If it doesn't, then I'll just use the recovery discs I made when I originally got the computer.
Also yesterday, I picked up the complete series set of "It's Garry Shandling's Show". Used to watch it regularly back in the 80's on Showtime... but you don't see it repeated much on TV anymore for some reason.
In other news... wondering what has become of one of my other LJ friends, indigomittens. She hasn't posted anything since early November, hasn't been on messenger, and even her other friends on Facebook are wondering why she has been so quiet. Hope she is okay.
I've been rather "lazy" today, need to wash some clothes and dishes, but may put those chores off till tomorrow. Heck, been so lazy, it's almost 1:30 in the afternoon, I haven't even gotten dressed yet! |

A friend I haven't seen "in person" in over 14 years will be appearing at a local "pub" this Friday night, he's a keyboardist/vocalist who used to own a record store I frequented often in the early 80's-early 90's(but moved out of state since then), before he moved away to bigger and better things. He will be appearing starting at 9pm Friday night at Enoch's Pubs "30th Annual John Lennon Birthday Party" with local talent Kenny Bill Stinson, on Louisville Avenue in the neighboring city of Monroe.
Regardless of my work schedule, being something like this doesn't happen very often, thinking of calling in for this Saturday, even though I won't have a "medical excuse" this time... wise excuse or not? Really want to attend that! Opinions?
If Wally World gives me "heck"... will I care? Will Dennis approve me bringing a camcorder in the place when I captured him with THIS look on his face?...My son wants to see what he missed, and he's 15... no admitance to Enoch's... these questions and more will be answered on the next episode of "Soap"...

After mainly sitting on my ass for the duration of my vacation, the first day back to work was extremely exhausting!
In other "back to work" news, working with an old friend again for the first time since the mid-late 90's. Jeannie and I used to work together at Booger King, now she's in the dairy section at Wally World! Well, she's actually been at Wally World for quite some time, but being she was working in the garden center (on the other side of the store) until today. She had asked the management to transfer her to the dairy. We immediately fell right back into the kidding of each other like we used to do years ago. Guess history does sometimes "repeat itself"... |

| Need more time... |

I think sometimes, especially here lately, I need more "free" time. With the hours I've been working, I don't feel like sitting in front of the computer very long after getting home, just feel like going to bed. As a result, I've been getting TOO far behind catching up on my online friends. Just read today that one of them is on their way to Budapest (will need to try and "scroll back" after work tonight and see exactly why).
No telling what all else I've missed! Maybe I'll make a point this coming Tuesday (my next day off) of doing nothing but trying to play "catch up"! |

| Quickie Post |

Just a small post before leaving for work in a few minutes. I'm going to be a walking zombie today, it was thundering loudly ALL freggn' night, I got hardly any sleep at all. Dealing with a major headache also. Forecast for today is MORE rain and thunderstorms. This kind of weather isn't "going to work" weather. This is the kind of weather one should be staying in bed, snuggling with someone special.
That said, I really, REALLY need to find a "friend with benefits"... it's been over 11 years since my last time... |

Apart from the stressed rants in the previous post, I come home to find out that one of my oldest "internet friends" ("Oldest" as in years known, not age) is heading towards "D-I-V-O-R-C-E", as Tammy Wynette would have said... always considered them the near-perfect couple (nobody's completely "perfect")...
/needs another drink because of this news :-( |

I've been "following" kitykity since she left Texas. She has been posting a "Flickr photo blog" chronicalling her trip, in which she winds up in Biloxi, Mississippi. Hopefully that doesn't make me into some kind of "stalker"....
Oh, she caught me on the Wally World parking lot yesterday morning to tell me "Bye" again before leaving West Monroe for Jackson, Mississippi. Wasn't expecting that. Maybe one of these days, I'll be able to afford to take time off and go visit her and the rest of her family.
Speaking of Wal-Mart... < mini rant >the management needs to get off their duff and hire more cart people! Both Friday AND yesterday, I was the ONLY person on the whole Supercenter parking lot collecting carts until 2pm! The two busiest days of the week! WTF is wrong with those people?!?< /mini rant > |

After all these years of talking to kitykity online, finally got to meet her in "3-D" (as she referred to it). Once she made it into town, she called for directions to the house, and I managed to not get her lost. We talked about a wide range of topics... family, music, movies, jobs, internet, etc. I really enjoyed the visit. She took some videos and pictures that she will probably put up on her website later, including some of "Eastwood". For some reason though, her cellphone would only work well in the kitchen. Wonder if the wireless Linksys might have been interferring?

A person I've known for years on LiveJournal is popping in for awhile when she gets into town. Never met her in person before, but I feel as though I've known her and her family for ages, through her many blog and vlog posts. She has been posting pictures of her journey here...

On September 12, 1992, my mom arranged a bit of a "family reunion" for most of the relatives on her side of the family. Quite a lot of the evening I captured on video. This was late afternoon, not everyone had shown up yet. My mom had already had a few "12 Year Old Old Charter's" and Cokes, and it really shows here in this video. Also in this short segment from the tape is my Uncle Bill LaComb and his then wife Brenda, my cousin Terri and her husband Allen, my cousin Blake, my mom's boyfriend at the time Larry Cole, old high school friend Paul Morrison (who offered to cook BBQ for us), and my late grandmother Cindy LaComb (my mom's mother)...

Back when my friends and I used to record "fake" radio shows back in the 1980's, my old high school friend thought it might be an interesting idea to get him on tape playing his guitar. We recorded the "show" on December 11, 1985, and "aired" it early the next year. It was titled "An Evening with Paul Morrison". I also had the old Emerson VHS video camera I owned at the time rolling, so his performance was also caught on video. Here is an excerpt from that recording...
